Jalpesh Temple is located in Maynaguri Town, within the Jalpaiguri District of West Bengal. This sacred temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
It was originally built in 1524 by Sri Bisu Singh, the father of Maharaja Narayan, the king of Coochbehar. The temple holds strong religious values and attracts many visitors.

History of Jalpesh Mandir
The temple has a deep historical background that goes back to around 800 AD. It was first built by Jalpesh, a descendant of King Baghadatta.
Over time, the temple faced several rebuilds and periods of destruction. It was fully destroyed during the attack of Muhammad bin Bakhtiyar Khalji on Kamrup.
A Bhutanese king rebuilt the temple in the 12th century. Later, it was left unused. In 1665, the Cooch Behar Dynasty restored it once again.
