Dhirdham Temple in Darjeeling – Travel Guide

Dhirdham Temple is a must-visit religious site in Darjeeling, located just above the Toy Train Railway Station.

It is one of the most beautiful temples in the area, resembling Kathmandu’s Pashupatinath Temple. Built in traditional Tibetan style, this temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Inside, you will find an idol that represents five different facial expressions and the Third Eye of Lord Shiva, known as “Pancha Bakram Tri Netram.”

The temple’s Nepali-style architecture creates a peaceful and calming atmosphere. Nepal’s King Purna Bahadur Pradhan commissioned the temple, and Gorkhali architect Beg Raj Sakya designed it.

As you explore the temple premises, you will notice trees and greenery all around, enhancing the beauty of the surroundings.

From the moment you step in, you will feel a deep sense of holiness and serenity. The priests inside welcome everyone warmly.
