Darjeeling Rock Garden

Darjeeling Rock Garden, also called Barbotey Rock Garden, is located near Chunnu Summer Falls. It has become a popular spot for nature lovers visiting Darjeeling.

It was developed to boost tourism after political unrest affected the area in the 1980s. Another rock garden in the region is Sir John Anderson Rock Garden, which is part of Lloyd’s Botanical Garden.

Barbotey Rock Garden is a multi-level picnic area built around Chunnu Summer Falls. A hillstream flows through it, with water cascading over rocks.

Ganga Maya Park is around 3 km from Rock Garden. It is another well-known place for tourists. The park is surrounded by green hills and has a stream running through it.

The park has a small lake for boating. Visitors also enjoy the fountain and flower gardens inside the park.

Bagdogra Airport is the closest airport, located about 90 km from Darjeeling. It is connected to major cities across India.

By Train

New Jalpaiguri Junction is the nearest railway station. It has direct trains from Kolkata, Delhi, Guwahati, and other key locations.

By Road

Cars can be hired from Siliguri to Darjeeling. Buses are also available. From Darjeeling town, you will need to take a taxi or jeep to reach Rock Garden.

For the return trip, booking a car early is better, as return options may be limited.

Barbotey Rock Garden is open in all seasons. It remains a beautiful destination throughout the year. However, summer and autumn are the most comfortable times to visit.
