Jayanti is located on the bank of the Jayanti River. This small village is part of the Dooars region and is known for its calm environment and scenic beauty.

The river, forests, and nearby hills create a refreshing setting.

You will have three full days to explore the area. Use this time to visit scenic spots, go for a jungle safari, and enjoy local attractions. Below is the full tour plan for your Buxa Jayanti trip.

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Jayanti

Our team will receive you at Alipurduar Railway Station. From there, you will drive about 41 kilometers to Jayanti.

The road to Jayanti offers green views and a peaceful atmosphere. The drive takes around one hour.

Once you reach Jayanti, check in at your resort. Take some time to rest and enjoy the calm surroundings.

Walk to the Jayanti riverbed and take in the peaceful view. The river is usually dry, so you can cross it and see the lower Himalayan hills from the other side.

Return to your resort before dark. Watch the sunset and enjoy the quiet of the evening. Have dinner at the resort and relax for the night.

Day 2: Local Sightseeing and Safari in Jayanti

After breakfast, begin your sightseeing tour in Jayanti. Visit Pokhri Hill, which is about 4 kilometers from the village. “Pokhri” means pond, and you will find a peaceful pond at the top of the hill.

This is one of the most visited places in Jayanti.

Next, enjoy a jungle safari. Hire a jeep from the local area to explore the dense forest. The safari route covers about 20 kilometers.

During the safari, you may see animals like deer, elephants, bison, and mountain goats. The forest is full of tall sal trees and thick greenery, offering a thrilling ride through nature.

After the safari, visit the watchtower near Bhutia Basti. This area lies across the dry Jayanti riverbed in the Buxa forest area.

From here, you can often see wild animals and views of the Bhutan hills. The watchtower also overlooks a small waterhole surrounded by forest.

The tower is open from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., but the route remains closed from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

After visiting these spots, return to your resort. Spend the evening at leisure and rest for the night.

Day 3: Buxa Tiger Reserve Safari and Visit to Buxa Fort

In the morning, check out of your resort in Jayanti and head to Buxa Tiger Reserve. The drive is around 15 kilometers.

Buxa Tiger Reserve is the largest forest area in Dooars, covering about 760 square kilometers. It is connected to the Phipshu Wildlife Sanctuary in Bhutan and has a high number of tigers after the Sunderbans.

Hire a jeep from the forest department and go for a jungle safari inside Buxa Tiger Reserve. Although spotting a tiger is rare, the forest still offers a wild and thrilling experience.

You may also see animals like Indian Gaur, spotted deer, and elephants.

After the safari, visit Buxa Fort. The fort is a well-known trekking destination. Many travelers call it a favorite trekking spot.

The trek to the fort begins at Santhalabari, a small village at the base. The trail goes up about 2.5 kilometers.

On the way, stop at the viewpoint to see wide views of the forest and hills. Once at the fort, take time to explore the area and learn about its history.

If you want to trek further, you can visit Lepchakha village. This quiet village is about 3 kilometers from the fort and offers peaceful surroundings.

After a full day of activities, return to your accommodation in Buxa and spend the night there.
